Sedation Dentistry

This pill will completely relax the patient and if given a larger dose, it’s likely the patient will fall asleep during the procedure. The pill is to be taken an hour before the procedure and will stay in effect throughout the entire procedure.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is given through a mask placed over your nose that administers oxygen with nitrous oxide. The gas allows for the patient to feel relaxed enough to have the required dental procedures while being conscious enough to know what’s happening. Your dentist will control the flow of the gas and will turn it off once necessary. The gas’s effects will wear off quickly after the gas has stopped.

Intravenous Sedation, or IV sedation is given with a needle directly into your vein. This allows for the drug to take effect more quickly. If you need more sedation, this method allows for the dentist to give you more sedation medicine if it is needed during the procedure.
